|first_clark||06:24 pm - 101! Thank you!|
For the seventh time Arisians answered the call to give life. The 101 successful donations to MGH & Children's Hospital are desperately needed, as two Arisians who were former patients of Children's came to tell us and the donors as they donated. The coordinator from Children's sent this as part of a message today: "Thank you for all your hard work, our blood supply has been very low the last couple of weeks and we appreciate all your hard work." Hard or no, I'm answering a call to act, just as all you donors and volunteers do. Bravo, everyone!

sorry i couldnt donate.. having done platelets just last tuesday... but i am glad you got that many!!!!!
I just would like to say thank you again and if there is any way I could volunteer for next year (with out giving blood I'm one of the former patients that popped in and said thanks) let me know. Also fabricdragon awesome for donating platelets it's a long process (my grandfather has donated almost 300 units) and the patients who receive them and their families are so grateful.

I'm sure first_clark
can find ways for you to help next year; there is a table to be staffed, there are Naughty Nurses to be joined, there are skits to be devised, there are calendars to produce. It could be something as simple as letting us have a flyer with your story on it. :-)
Okay thank you!! I will contact them soon.
coordinates the volunteers during the con and all the things they've thought up to do so well. I do the advance planning with the ConCom, hospitals, Heinlein Society, and neighborhood. (In fact I have to go take some posters down tomorrow!) During the con I'm the bottom line guy, there early, middle, and late for the donors and hospital staff while gingerkat
's volunteers recruit donors in all kinds of different ways. You're welcome to join in any part of this that catches your fancy, and we're glad to have you join us. You moved donors to tears with your story, one of whom came to us afterward vowing to become a more frequent donor. You've already had an impact. Bravo!

I am very sad that I missed my donation appointment. I will attempt again next year to participate, as Arisia is conveniently timed just after my 112-day donation hiatus after giving a double unit of red cells at Dragon*Con each year.
101 pints to just MGH? That's a lot.
How many to Children's?
It was 59/42, MGH/Children's. I've fixed my omission in the original post. Sorry to confuse.
